How Chelsea could line up against Aston Villa

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Chelsea could line up for Wednesday's FA Cup fourth-round replay with Aston Villa.

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino should not be averse to making a few changes for Wednesday's FA Cup fourth-round replay with Aston Villa at Villa Park.

The Blues could not penetrate the Lions' backline in a goalless Stamford Bridge stalemate on January 26, but they resume knockout duties on the back of a humiliating 4-2 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.

None of Levi Colwill (tendon), Trevoh Chalobah (thigh), Lesley Ugochukwu (hamstring), Wesley Fofana (knee), Robert Sanchez (knee), Reece James (thigh), Marc Cucurella (ankle) or Romeo Lavia (quadriceps) were available for that defeat, although the former two should soon exit the infirmary.

Chalobah is back in team training but will likely be given more time to get up to speed, having not played a single competitive game this season, while Colwill is not ready for a first-team return just yet.

Nonetheless, there will be scope for a defensive alteration, as Thiago Silva's 39-year-old body is evidently in need of a rest, so Benoit Badiashile might join former Monaco teammate Axel Disasi in an otherwise untouched backline.

Further up the field, Moises Caicedo went from hero to zero against Wolves - providing the assist for Cole Palmer's effort before finding himself culpable for Matheus Cunha's first of three goals - so Pochettino may consider starting ex-Villain Carney Chukwuemeka alongside Enzo Fernandez.

On the back of becoming the first Chelsea player aged 21 or under to score 10 goals in one Premier League season, Palmer is one of the few players whose spot is secure, and Christopher Nkunku should also feel confident of holding his place in attack.

However, Raheem Sterling was booed off the field on Sunday and could cede his spot to Mykhaylo Mudryk, while Nicolas Jackson was only on the bench against Wolves following his Africa Cup of Nations return but will surely come into consideration to lead the line here.

Chelsea possible starting lineup:
Petrovic; Gusto, Disasi, Badiashile, Chilwell; Chukwuemeka, Fernandez; Palmer, Nkunku, Mudryk; Jackson body check tags ::
