Sports Mole rounds up all of Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their EFL Cup quarter-final tie at Brentford.

Chelsea are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday evening for their EFL Cup quarter-final tie at Brentford.

Both clubs are currently affected by coronavirus outbreaks, putting the fixture at risk of being postponed to a later date.

However, Chelsea were forced to play their Premier League fixture at the weekend, head coach Thomas Tuchel only being able to name four outfield substitutes.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with Brentford, opponents who pushed them all the way in the Premier League on October 16.

Ben Chilwell

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee/coronavirus
Possible return date: Unknown

Chilwell, who tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday, has been making excellent progress in his recovery from a knee injury, but he will remain unavailable for the foreseeable future.

Romelu Lukaku

Status: Out
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: Unknown

Chelsea revealed on Thursday that Lukaku, who has recently spent time on the sidelines with an ankle problem, had tested positive for coronavirus, meaning that he is now in self-isolation.

Timo Werner

Status: Out
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: Unknown

Chelsea revealed on Thursday that Werner had tested positive for coronavirus, meaning that he is now in self-isolation.

Callum Hudson-Odoi

Status: Out
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: Unknown

Chelsea revealed on Thursday ahead of the Everton clash that Hudson-Odoi had tested positive for coronavirus, meaning that he is now in self-isolation.

Kai Havertz

Status: Out
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: Unknown

Last week, Havertz tested negative for coronavirus, despite feeling unwell. However, although he returned to training on Friday, the German did not feature in the squad against Wolves, the assumption being that he has tested positive for coronavirus.

Jorginho

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: Unknown

Tuchel spoke openly about a coronavirus-related situation regarding Jorginho on Sunday, but suggested that there was a lack of conclusiveness about a positive test. As it stands, there is no clarity on the situation ahead of this contest.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Status: Out
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: Unknown

Tuchel revealed last Friday that Loftus-Cheek was an injury doubt for the Wolves game. The midfielder subsequently missed the fixture at Molineux, but it appears that the academy graduate is among the players who have tested positive for coronavirus.

Andreas Christensen

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Back
Possible return date: December 22 (vs. Brentford)

Tuchel pointed out at the weekend that Christensen was absent from his squad for the Wolves game due to a back injury. As it stands, the severity of the issue remains unknown, but it appears likely that he will miss the visit to the Bees.

Trevoh Chalobah

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Unspecified
Possible return date: December 22 (vs. Brentford)

On his first start for several weeks, Chalobah lasted just 45 minutes before being withdrawn with another injury issue. Tuchel revealed on Sunday that the versatile academy graduate would be assessed, but it seems doubtful that any risks would be taken on Wednesday.

CHELSEA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Chelsea have no players suspended for this match.
