Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier League clash with Liverpool on Wednesday.
Sports Mole

Seeking to claim their fourth successive Premier League win, Chelsea travel to Anfield to lock horns with leaders Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Three days after thrashing Middlesbrough 6-2 on aggregate to reach the EFL Cup final, the Blues were forced to settle for a goalless draw at home to Aston Villa in the FA Cup fourth round last Friday.

A daunting trip to Liverpool in the Premier League is up next for Mauricio Pochettino's side, who currently sit ninth in the table and four points behind London rivals West Ham United in sixth place.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest with Jurgen Klopp's side.

Christopher Nkunku

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Hip
Possible return date: January 31 (vs. Liverpool)

Christopher Nkunku picked up a hip injury shortly after recovering from a long-term knee problem, but the attacker, who has been sidelined since the start of the month, has returned to training and could be in a position to feature in the matchday squad against Liverpool.

Levi Colwill

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Unspecified
Possible return date: January 31 (vs. Liverpool)

Levi Colwill was taken out of Chelsea's starting lineup against Aston Villa after picking up an unspecified problem during the warm-up, but the defender's issue is not thought to be a serious one and he could therefore return to the matchday squad on Wednesday.

Malo Gusto

Status: Out
Type of injury: Unspecified
Possible return date: January 31 (vs. Liverpool)

Malo Gusto has missed Chelsea's last two games with an unspecified problem, but the right-back has returned to training and could feature in Wednesday's clash against Liverpool.

Wesley Fofana

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Wesley Fofana is yet to make an appearance for Chelsea this term due to a serious knee injury and the defender is unlikely to return before next season.

Lesley Ugochukwu

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Lesley Ugochukwu sustained a hamstring injury in the loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers at the end of December, and the midfielder was ruled out for at least six weeks earlier this month.

Robert Sanchez

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: February 12 (vs. Crystal Palace)

Robert Sanchez is still recovering from a knee injury picked up against Everton in December, and the goalkeeper is targeting a return at some stage next month.

Marc Cucurella

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: March 2 (vs. Brentford)

Marc Cucurella was another victim of that defeat to Everton, sustaining an ankle injury which required surgery, and the left-back is not expected to return until March at the earliest.

Reece James

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Reece James underwent hamstring surgery just before Christmas and the Chelsea captain is facing a race against time to be fit before the end of the season.

Romeo Lavia

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: Unknown

Romeo Lavia's long-awaited return to the Chelsea side following a lengthy spell out with an ankle injury was cut short by a thigh problem, and it remains to be seen when the midfielder will return to the first-team fold.

Trevoh Chalobah

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: February 12 (vs. Crystal Palace)

Trevoh Chalobah, who is yet to play for Chelsea this season due to a troublesome thigh injury, has recently been spotted in training, but the versatile defender is not expected to make a comeback until the start of next month at the earliest.

CHELSEA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Chelsea have no suspended players for this match.
