Chelsea have been handed another coronavirus-related blow after Andreas Christensen returned a positive test.
Christensen has been in and out of the squad of late, a consequence of a back problem, but the Dane impressed as Chelsea defeated Tottenham Hotspur in the EFL Cup semi-finals earlier this week.
That performance realistically ensured that the 25-year-old would feature on the right-hand side of a back three for Chelsea's fixture at Premier League leaders Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.
However, head coach Thomas Tuchel revealed at his pre-match press conference that Christensen was out of contention due to a positive coronavirus test.
As well as the game at the Etihad Stadium, Christensen is also expected to sit out the meeting against Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday evening.
The development comes at a time when Christensen, who is out of contract in the summer, is being linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund.
