Jose Mourinho suggests that Eden Hazard must have suffered a "serious injury" after the Chelsea midfielder decides to take himself off during the 2-1 loss to Leicester City.

Jose Mourinho has suggested that Eden Hazard must have suffered a "serious injury" after the attacker decided to withdraw during Chelsea's 2-1 loss at the King Power tonight.

The Belgian international was forced off on the half-hour mark following a seemingly-innocuous challenge from Leicester striker Jamie Vardy, who went on to score the first of the Foxes' two goals just minutes later.

Speaking after the match - Chelsea's ninth defeat of the season - Mourinho said that he was unaware of the extent of Hazard's injury.

"The only thing I know is that in 10 seconds he made the decision [to come off] himself," Mourinho told Sky Sports News. "So it must be a serious injury because he just left the pitch and he made a decision himself that he was not in a good condition to go on. It must be something important.

"His first reaction was 'I can't'. I was going to make a change and his second reaction was 'I want to try'. When he [went back] on the pitch, he immediately said 'I can't do it'. Clearly he tried and he felt immediately that he couldn't."

Hazard found the net 14 times in Chelsea's title-winning campaign last season but is yet to break his duck in 14 attempts this term.
