Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard has said that his side did not have the ideal preparation for their Capital One Cup clash with Leeds United.
The Blues avoided an early scare to come from behind and thrash the Championship outfit 5-1 at Elland Road on Wednesday night, having flown back from the Club World Cup in Japan on Monday.
While he admits that their build-up to the game wasn't ideal, Lampard is happy with the way that Chelsea responded to going a goal down.
"We didn't make the greatest preparation but there's no excuse, we had to up it," said Lampard.
"The early goal gave us the impetus, we believed from then on and we didn't think we could lose the game.
"Some of the football we played, we opened them up and showed what we could do."
Chelsea will now face Swansea City in the semi-finals of the tournament.
