Kenny Dalglish satisfied with victory

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish says that tonight's victory over Chelsea was not an overly impressive performance and was like many others at Anfield this season.

Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has expressed his satisfaction after this evening's 4-1 triumph over their FA Cup conquerors Chelsea.

The Reds exacted some revenge for Saturday's final defeat this evening in a performance that Dalglish said was not too dissimilar from many others at Anfield.

"I think the players, everyone will be happy that we've finished on a high," said the Glaswegian.

"It's a satisfactory evening for us and I hope the supporters go away feeling happy."

Tonight's win was only the Reds' sixth home success of the season but Dalglish thinks the fans won't dwell on this statistic too much.

He added: "I think [the fans] understand better than anybody, I think they're more educated than most and they now there's been a lot of good performances here."

Three points for Dalglish's men saw them move to within a point of Merseyside rivals Everton ahead of Sunday's final day but Liverpool forward Andy Carroll said that they would be treating this weekend's trip to Swansea no differently.

Speaking of finishing above Everton, the target man said: "We always want to win and it's important going out to win."

Despite their disappointing Premier League season, Liverpool will compete in next year's Europa League because of their Carling Cup triumph earlier in the campaign.
