Didier Drogba targets three more years

Didier Drogba believes that he can play for up to three more years after giving Chelsea a 1-0 first-leg advantage over Barcelona in their Champions League semi-final.

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba believes that his recent performances have proved he still has what it takes to play at the highest level.

The 34-year-old had been written off in some circles during Chelsea's early season struggles and was linked with a move away from the club when his contract expires in the summer.

However, he has since gone on to play a key role under interim manager Roberto Di Matteo, putting in a man-of-the-match performance in the Blues' 5-1 FA Cup semi-final victory over Tottenham Hotspur before scoring the only goal as Chelsea beat Barcelona 1-0 at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

"For those who said that I was too old, they saw that I could run maybe one, two or three more years," said Drogba

While it may be a slim first-leg advantage to take to the Nou Camp for the return fixture of their Champions League last-four clash with the Catalan giants, Drogba feels that Chelsea are relishing the challenge of facing them and Premier League rivals Arsenal in the space of a few days.

"I think we were a bit lucky, but that's football. You have to work for luck to come and to happen. We worked a lot. We worked hard," he added.

"We have to go there now and try to score another one. It's going to be an important, very decisive week for us, and I think we're up for it."

The Ivorian joined Chelsea from Marseille for £24m back in 2004.
