Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas has joked about the sacking of Julen Lopetegui as the national team's head coach.
Lopetegui, who was announced as the new Real Madrid boss on Tuesday evening, was removed from the national post on Wednesday morning, just two days before Spain kick off their World Cup campaign against Portugal.
Fabregas, who will be on BBC Sport's punditry team for the tournament after not being selected, said on Twitter: "Wait, maybe I get a call up now!"
The 31-year-old is to join World Cup winner Jurgen Klinsmann, Didier Drogba and Pablo Zabaleta for the role, and will be in the studio when Spain take on Portugal.
Fabregas has appeared 115 times for Spain, winning the World Cup in 2010 and two European Championships in 2008 and 2012.
