Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia has described Mateo Kovacic's playing style as a "perfect fit" for the Premier League side.
Kovacic has arrived at Stamford Bridge on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid, which reports suggest could be made permanent in a year's time.
The 24-year-old arrives in West London on the back of a hit-and-miss three years at Madrid, where he struggled to hold down a regular first-team place, but he does boast plenty of experience thanks to appearances in Serie A, the Champions League, La Liga and this summer's World Cup.
Granovskaia is pleased with the Croatia international's arrival, telling the club's official website: "We are very happy to welcome Mateo to the Chelsea family.
"He is a perfect fit for us this season, his style is well suited to how Maurizio [Sarri] wants to play and we are sure he will prove to be a valuable asset for the club."
Kovacic, who played six times for Croatia during their run to the World Cup final, has said that he is "excited" to get going for Chelsea
