Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge believes that Pep Guardiola will "shine" at the German club.
The Bundesliga outfit confirmed on Wednesday that the 41-year-old has agreed to become Bayern's new coach at the end of the season.
"Pep Guardiola is one of the most successful coaches in the world and we are sure that he can make not just Bayern, but all of German football shine," Rummenigge told reporters.
Bayern's chairman Uli Hoeness added: "As an adequate replacement for Heynckes only someone of Pep Guardiola's calibre came into question."
Manchester City and Chelsea had both been credited with an interest in the former Barcelona boss, who left the Catalan club at the end of last season.
