Chelsea centre-back Thiago Silva has reportedly agreed a new one-year contract extension at Stamford Bridge, keeping him with the Blues until 2023.
The 37-year-old added a vast amount of experience to the Blues camp when he arrived in the summer of 2020 and continues to be a key member in Thomas Tuchel's side, having scored twice in 13 Premier League appearances this season.
Silva's current contract with Chelsea is set to expire at the end of this season, but the proposed new agreement will see the defender stay with the club until he is 40 years old.
According to journalist Angelo Mangiante, the terms between Silva and Chelsea are now agreed with an official announcement expected in due course.
The reigning European champions are looking to defend their Champions League title in the new year, and Silva is likely to reach 100 appearances in that competition during his remaining time at Chelsea, having featured 93 times in the Champions League across his 13-year career so far.
The Brazilian international has played 52 times for Chelsea and scored four goals since joining from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer. body check tags ::
