Tottenham have reportedly offered to double Luke Modric's basic salary to £90,000 in a deal to keep him at the club until 2017.
Spurs are believed to have opened talks over the contract a fortnight ago, with a view to keeping the Croatian at the club amid continued interest from Chelsea.
While £90,000 alone would make Modric the highest-paid player at the club, performance-related clauses could push the playmaker's earnings over £100,000, according to Goal.com.
The 26-year-old is understood to be happy to accept the deal, but is hesitating over the one-year extension to his current agreement, which keeps him at the club until 2016.
