South American champions Corinthians have booked their place in the final of this year's Club World Cup courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Al-Ahly this afternoon.
Corinthians dominated the encounter from the first whistle but it took until the 30th minute for them to break the deadlock.
Former Bayern Munich and Hamburg striker Paolo Guerrero was the scorer as he rose highest inside the box to head a cross from Douglas beyond the reach of Sherif Ekramy in the Al-Ahly goal.
The Brazilians continued to apply pressure after the restart, but they were unable to add to their tally.
Their victory could now have set up a final encounter with European champions Chelsea, who will also advance through if they defeat Mexican side Monterrey tomorrow.
