The Blues are winless in three games in all competitions, including back-to-back defeats in the top flight, and cannot afford to drop more points against their London rivals.
Frank Lampard urged his summer signings to "wake up" on the back of their loss at Wolverhampton Wanderers last time out, so some changes can be expected against in-form United.

Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi returned to group training on Friday, but Lampard is unsure whether either player will be part of his squad on Monday.
Lampard has decided against tweaking formation, despite his side's poor form and two of his wingers being ruled out, and a 4-3-3 can again be expected against West Ham.
Olivier Giroud has fought off competition from Tammy Abraham to lead the line, while Christian Pulisic is the Blues' best option out on the right.
Timo Werner's scoreless run of eight matches has led to calls for the versatile forward to be dropped, but Lampard does not have a great deal of other options for now.
Fellow summer signing Kai Havertz is another who has dropped off, potentially meaning a return to the side for Mateo Kovacic alongside Mason Mount and N'Golo Kante.
