Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.
The Blues are keen to recruit a new goalkeeper despite signing Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic last summer.
Sanchez began the campaign as Chelsea's number one, but a knee injury presented Petrovic with the chance to impress.
The Serbia international proved to be a consistent performer in his 25 Premier League appearances, helping Chelsea secure Europa League qualification.
Although Petrovic showcased his credentials, Chelsea are still looking to sign a new top-quality for incoming manager Enzo Maresca.
Chelsea eyeing Mamardashvili move
According to football.london, Chelsea are weighing up a summer move for Valencia's Georgian goalkeeper Mamardashvili.
The report suggests that Chelsea have been keeping tabs on Mamardashvili ever since sending scouts to watch him in the second half of the 2022-23 campaign.
Co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart seemingly view Mamardashvili as one of their main goalkeeper targets for the summer transfer window.
The Blues may have to move quickly to sign the Georgia international, with Newcastle United currently chasing his signature.
Chelsea are also considering Villarreal's Filip Jorgensen as another option and have reportedly made contact with the 22-year-old's representatives.
One of La Liga's standout goalkeepers
After joining Valencia in 2021, Mamardashvili has gone on to establish himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Spanish top flight.
As per Opta, Mamardashvili prevented 9.7 goals in the 2023-24 La Liga season – more than any of side in the division.
Only three goalkeepers recorded more shutouts than Mamardashvili, who kept 13 clean sheets in 37 La Liga appearances last season.
Although he is one of Valencia's prized assets, the 23-year-old could be sold to help the club improve their financial situation.
