Chelsea could reportedly hijack Barcelona's move for Sassuolo attacker Jeremie Boga with the Premier League club retaining a buy-back clause.
Boga only made one first-team appearance for Chelsea before leaving for Sassuolo on a permanent deal in 2018 following loan spells at Rennes, Granada and Birmingham City.
The 22-year-old has scored four times and registered two assists in 13 Serie A appearances this season, which has allegedly attracted the interest of Spanish champions Barca.
However, according to the Daily Mail, Chelsea inserted a buy-back clause of £3.5m when they sold the Ivory Coast international to Sassuolo, and the Blues could now re-sign their former player in January.
Having had their FIFA-imposed transfer suspension lifted, the Premier League giants are expected to be active in the winter transfer market with head coach Frank Lampard reportedly having £150m to spend.
Crystal Palace's Wilfried Zaha and Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho are both thought to be high on the club's wishlist when it comes to attacking reinforcements at the start of 2020.
