The father of reported Chelsea transfer target Andre Schurrle has insisted that his son will not be leaving Bayer Leverkusen during the upcoming January transfer window.
Premier League outfit Chelsea were heavily linked throughout the summer with the German international, who has a reported release clause in his contract worth in the region of £28.5m.
However, Joachim Schurrle has told Chelsea and any other interested parties that the 22-year-old has no intention of leaving his current employers until next summer at the earliest.
"We have plenty of time left until the next summer," Schurrle senior told German newspaper Express. "Until next summer, there is no reason to move. Moving clubs before the summer is not an issue. Andre very much likes being at Bayer Leverkusen.
"It's a successful team and the team plays really good football, too. We all simply have to wait and see."
Schurrle joined Leverkusen in 2011 from Mainz.
