Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has indicated that veteran captain John Terry could earn a new one-year contract.
The Blues have operated a club policy of offering only 12-month deals to players over the age of 30 and released both Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole during the summer.
However, Terry has become a regular fixture in the West London outfit's backline alongside Gary Cahill, and the Daily Mail claims that Mourinho will recommend a possible extension to the Chelsea board nearer the end of the season.
Mourinho also suggested that Terry could remain at the top as long as Argentine full-back Javier Zanetti, who played under the Portuguese coach at Inter Milan.
Chelsea are currently three points ahead of Manchester City in the Premier League table.
