Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has ruled out signing Steven Gerrard if the midfielder fails to agree a new contract with Liverpool.
The midfielder recently suggested that he could leave the Reds when his current deal expires in the summer.
Mourinho tried to bring Gerrard to Stamford Bridge during his first spell in charge of Chelsea, but the Portuguese has dismissed talk of attempting it again.
When asked if he was still interested in the 34-year-old former England captain, he told reporters: "No. How long can he still play? I don't know."
Chelsea make the trip to Liverpool in the Premier League later today looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
