Chelsea transfer news: Newcastle United 'to poach' winger if Blues beat them to Michael Olise

:Headline: Chelsea transfer news: Newcastle United 'to poach' winger if Blues beat them to Michael Olise:
Newcastle United may reportedly look to sign a Chelsea winger if the Blues are able to beat them in the race for Crystal Palace playmaker Michael Olise.

Newcastle United are reportedly plotting to make an approach for a Chelsea winger if they fail with a bid for Michael Olise.

The Magpies have recently suffered the disappointment of missing out on European football courtesy of Manchester United winning the FA Cup.

Failure to secure continental action for 2024-25 will impact on the funds that Eddie Howe can spend in the transfer market, as well as take away an attractive factor in negotiations.

Furthermore, it leaves Newcastle having to be more open to player sales, particularly if they receive a big-money proposal for the likes of Bruno Guimaraes or Alexander Isak.

On the flip side, any money generated would allow the North East outfit to enter the market for players who cost less money, allowing them to add depth to their squad.

Newcastle considering move for Madueke

If reports are to be believed, both Chelsea and Newcastle hold an interest in signing Crystal Palace playmaker Olise, who is expected to depart Selhurst Park.

Chelsea are long-term admirers of the 22-year-old and are believed to be one of the favourites to win the race for his signature, handing a blow to Newcastle.

Nevertheless, according to The i, Howe may switch his attention to Chelsea winger Noni Madueke if the West Londoners can attract Olise to Stamford Bridge.

Co-owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital are allegedly insistent that sales are not required to meet the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules.

However, Chelsea face committing to a deal in excess of £60m if they are to sign Olise, and that could have ramifications for some of their current crop.

As it stands, it appears that Chelsea are committed to having Madueke as a long-term option in their squad courtesy of the 22-year-old having a contract until 2030.

Madueke also emerged from last season as one of Chelsea's most improved players, establishing himself as a key man on the right flank during the run-in.

The England Under-21 international ended the campaign with five goals and two assists from 13 starts and 10 substitute outings, and there is hope he will kick on under new boss Enzo Maresca.

At this stage of his career, though, Madueke requires regular starts, and that may become more likely at Newcastle with the club allegedly open to offers for Miguel Almiron.

Chelsea committed to paying PSV Eindhoven a fee of £28.5m when they signed Madueke in January 2023, meaning they would realistically want at least £40m if they were to sell him during the summer transfer window. body check tags ::
