Inter Milan have not yet given up hope of signing N'Golo Kante from Chelsea this summer, according to a report.
The Serie A side, managed by former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, were strongly linked with Kante earlier in the window.
A move appeared to be off the cards when Frank Lampard recently declared that he has no intention of selling the Frenchman.
However, Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that Conte is still pushing Inter chiefs to test Chelsea's resolve by making a formal offer.
The same report indicates that the longer the Nerazzurri hold off from making a bid, the less likely they are to land the 29-year-old as the Blues will be unable to bring in a replacement.
Kante has played a full part in Chelsea's opening two Premier League games - a 3-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion and a 2-0 loss at the hands of champions Liverpool.
