Chesterfield have reportedly agreed a compensation package with Nottingham Forest ahead of the appointment of Jack Lester as the club's new boss.
Earlier this month, Chesterfield parted ways with Gary Caldwell with the club languishing towards the bottom of the League Two table.
However, according to the Daily Mail, the Spireites have acted quickly to bring in a replacement, with former Chesterfield forward Lester on the brink of returning to the club.
Lester has spent the last three years on the coaching staff at the City Ground, but the 41-year-old has now been given an opportunity to take on his first managerial role.
During his playing career, Lester netted a total of 94 goals in 219 appearances in all competitions for the Derbyshire-based outfit.
It has been claimed that Lester will be in the dugout when Chesterfield host Cheltenham Town on Saturday, September 30.
