Chievo Verona have recorded a 2-0 win over Bologna at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi on the opening weekend of Serie A.

Sergio Pellissier missed a great chance to put his side a goal up after 25 minutes when he blazed over from inside the box.

However, he atoned for his error in the 65th minute with a header from Rinaldo Cruzado's centre.

Cruzado then grabbed a goal for himself by latching onto Luciano's cross with 10 minutes left on the clock.

Manolo Gabbiadini tested Stefano Sorrentino late on, but the Chievo goalkeeper was equal to the challenge.

Diego Perez then compounded the visitors' miserable evening when he received a straight red card for a challenge on Pelissier.
