Chievo scored a second-half equaliser through Cyril Thereau to deny Palermo a win that would have moved them off the bottom of Serie A.
Palermo started brightly and went ahead inside five minutes with Mauro Formica's first goal for the club.
Thereau shot wide and Isaac Cofie had an effort well saved as Chievo came forward for the equaliser.
Early in the second half Thereau was brought down for a penalty and the striker stepped up to convert it for the equaliser.
Palermo had a chance to retake the lead, but Diego Fabbrini missed the target with his shot.
It was the visitors who looked most likely to claim the win late on but Chievo hung on for the point.
