Genoa have enhanced their chances of staving off relegation from Serie A this season with a 1-0 victory over Chievo in Verona.
Chances were few and far between in the first half at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi, with Adrian Stoian's shot and Emiliano Moretti's effort the only two notable events in the opening 45 minutes.
However, things picked up pace after the restart, as Antonio Floro Flores went close for Genoa with a direct free kick.
The visitors increased their pressure on Chievo and reaped their reward in the 73rd minute with what proved to be the winning goal.
Marco Borriello rose highest to a Marco Rigoni corner and headed home from close range.
The Italian striker could have added his second late on when he found himself in a good position inside the Chievo penalty box, but dragged his shot wide.
