FC Dallas' hopes of making it through to the MLS playoffs have taken a dent after a 1-1 away draw with Chivas USA on Sunday.
Dallas were quicker off the mark than their hosts at the Home Depot Center and made the breakthrough after just eight minutes.
David Ferreira's attempt on the Chivas goal was saved by Dan Kennedy, but he could do nothing when Blas Perez tapped in the rebound from close range.
Chivas, though, staged a comeback in the second half and restored parity on 69 minutes.
Miller Bolanos's cross was partially cleared away by Kevin Hartman and Jorge Villafana turned it home at the back post.
The draw leaves Dallas four points behind Vancouver Whitecaps for the fifth and final Western Conference playoff spot, with each side having two games left to play.
