MLS side Columbus Crew have announced that their midfielder Kirk Urso has died at the age of 22.
No details have been given regarding the cause of Urso's death in a short statement on the club's official statement.
Urso, who signed for Columbus in March after being selected in the first round of the MLS Supplemental Draft, passed away on Saturday night. The club expressed that their "thoughts and prayers" were with the player's family and insisted that no further comments will be made.
"The Columbus Crew has learned that midfielder Kirk Urso has passed away on Saturday night," read a statement on thecrew.com.
"While the circumstances of Urso's passing are still being determined, no further comments will be made at this time.
"The thoughts and prayers of the entire Columbus Crew and Hunt Sports Group are with the Urso family in this time of need."
Urso had made six appearances in his time at the club.
