Costa Rica coach Jorge Luis Pinto has said that his side have "beaten a great team" following their victory over Italy in their Group D match at the World Cup.
The 1-0 win over the 2006 champions ensures that the Central American side are the first team from the group to secure their place in the last 16.
"The people of Costa Rica deserve it. This is for them. We controlled the game. It was as I expected it. We've beaten a great team," BBC Sport quotes Pinto as saying following the match.
Costa Rica will face already-eliminated England in their final group match on Tuesday.
