Coventry goalkeeper Lee Burge has got cold feet about returning to watch ice hockey after being hit on the head by a puck.
The 25-year-old was struck while he watched the Coventry Blaze’s match with the Sheffield Steelers on Sunday.
He reportedly needed hospital treatment following the incident but has been pictured training with the Sky Blues on Monday, with a bandaged head.
The Steelers lost the Elite League game 5-2 at the Skydome Arena.
The Steelers tweeted: “The club passes on their best wishes to Coventry City goalie Lee Burge who took a nasty blow to the face sat in the crowd last night.
“These fluke incidents do happen at games and we’re sorry it was you in the firing line. Get well soon Lee.”
Burge also tweeted after the incident at the weekend, joking: “Won’t be going there again.”
The goalkeeper had impressed in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Sunderland and will be assessed ahead of Tuesday’s visit of Sky Bet League One leaders Portsmouth.
Liam O’Brien is on standby to face his former club should Burge fail to make it.
