Nicky Law's early strike gives Rangers a 1-0 half-time lead over Cowdenbeath.

Rangers hold a 1-0 advantage over Cowdenbeath at Central Park this evening thanks to Nicky Law's early strike.

Rangers flew out of the blocks and were ahead after just three minutes when Law collected Kris Boyd's through-ball and shot beyond Robbie Thomson in the Cowdenbeath goal.

Kudus Oyenuga could have restored parity seven minutes later when he ran at the Rangers defence, drawing a foul on the edge of the area from Darren McGregor. However, from the resulting free kick Oyenuga fired harmlessly over the bar.

Steven Smith then went close with a free kick of his own that was well saved by Thomson, before Sean Higgins beat Steve Simonsen in the Rangers goal only to see his effort come back off the post just after the half-hour mark.
