Neil Warnock: 'I missed management'

Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock admits that he missed management in his year out of the game and is now relishing his first game against Newcastle United.

Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock has revealed that he is relishing his first game as the club's new boss when they take on Newcastle United later today.

The 65-year-old had been out of management for a year until he was appointed as Tony Pulis's successor following the latter's departure two days before the start of the campaign.

Warnock has admitted that he has missed being involved in the day-to-day running of a club since he left Leeds United in April 2013.

"I'm very fortunate I have the job now – I'm going to really enjoy it, if I can," Warnock told reporters.

"I know there will be times when I will lose my temper and I'm sure there are one or two referees who are looking forward to seeing me. Perhaps one or two will be looking to get their own back as well, I'm sure!

"But I have missed the banter with the players – that's what I enjoy and you can't replicate that when you call it a day."

Palace are without a point from their first two games this season.
