Crystal Palace have become the latest club to enquire about the possibility of signing Aston Villa striker Darren Bent, according to a report.
The England international has been heavily linked with Newcastle United and Fulham in recent weeks, with Villa holding out for a fee believed to be in the region of £5m before sanctioning his sale.
Eagles boss Ian Holloway believes that he can persuade Bent to return to the capital and is confident of beating competition for the 29-year-old's signature, according to The Mirror.
Bent is reportedly open to signing for Palace after watching Fulham have three successive bids rejected by Villa last week.
Newcastle also remain confident of adding Bent to their squad, with director of football Joe Kinnear insisting yesterday that recent negotiations with Villa have been positive.
