The Czech Republic kept up their chances of qualifying for next year's World Cup with a 3-0 victory against Armenia last time out.
That moved them up to third in the standings, but they are still five points behind leaders and Friday's visitors Italy. As a result, realistically only a win will do if they are to progress to Brazil automatically.
Matej Vydra, who spent last season on loan with Watford, scored twice against Armenia and he is expected to lead the line again against the Italians.
The away side may rest a few players for this tie, particularly because they head to Brazil for the Confederations Cup on Sunday. Angelo Ogbonna should be included in defence, but full-back Luca Antonelli will not feature because of an ankle injury.
Out of the last four meetings between the two nations, Italy have only won once.
