How Denmark could line up against Wales

Sports Mole looks at how Denmark could line up against Wales for Saturday's Euro 2020 last-16 showdown.

Kasper Hjulmand is likely to stick with a winning formula for Denmark's Euro 2020 last-16 tie against Wales in Amsterdam on Saturday.

Denmark became the first team in European Championship history to qualify for the knockout stages after losing their opening two group matches.

The defeat to Finland in their opener was overshadowed by the cardiac arrest suffered by Christian Eriksen, who is recovering at home, before they went down 2-1 to Belgium.

Eriksen's absence aside, Hjulmand has no other injury or suspension issues to contend with for this weekend's showdown at the Johan Cruijff ArenA.

Denmark turned on the style in seeing off Russia 4-1 in their last game, and there is no reason why the Red and White will not go with the same 3-4-2-1 system here.

Daniel Wass and Joakim Maehle impressed in the wing-back slots, while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg assisted two goals from his deep-lying midfield role.

Yussuf Poulsen also looked lively up top, supported by Martin Braithwaite and Mikkel Damsgaard, though Kasper Dolberg and Andreas Cornelius are alternative options in attack.

Damsgaard became Denmark's youngest goalscorer at a major tournament (20y 353d) with his goal against Russia. The striker has been involved in six goals in his five Denmark games.

Denmark possible starting lineup: Schmeichel; Christensen, Kjaer, Vestergaard; Wass, Hojbjerg, Delaney, Maehle; Braithwaite, Damsgaard; Poulsen
