World Cup 2022: Denmark vs. Tunisia head-to-head record

:Headline: World Cup 2022: Denmark vs. Tunisia head-to-head record:
Ahead of Tuesday's World Cup clash between Denmark and Tunisia, Sports Mole looks back at the previous meeting between the two sides more than 20 years ago.

Dark horses Denmark will begin their 2022 World Cup campaign when they take on Tunisia at the Education City Stadium on Tuesday.

Following their run to the semi-finals of Euro 2020 last year, the Danes have been tipped to impress in Qatar, and will be favourites to get their Group D campaign off to a winning start against underdogs Tunisia.

The game will be just the second time that the two nations have ever met in an official match, and the first in more than 20 years stretching back to May 2002.

That contest - incidentally a warm-up game for both teams ahead of the only previous Asian World Cup before this year - took place in Japan as both sides looked to get acclimatised to the conditions in the Far East.

It was Denmark who ran out winners on that occasion, with Ebbe Sand scoring the winning goal just five minutes after Tunisia had levelled things up.

Zied Jaziri got Tunisia's goal on the night to cancel out Jesper Gronkjaer's 17th-minute opener for a Denmark side which also included the likes of Thomas Sorensen, Thomas Gravesen and Jon Dahl Tomasson.

Tunisia went on to take just one point from their three games at the 2002 World Cup, whereas Denmark topped a group which included defending champions France - an achievement they will be aiming to replicate this winter.
