Former Liverpool winger Tom Ince says that he was "desperate" to join Derby County permanently from Hull City.

Derby County's latest recruit Tom Ince has said that he was "desperate" to join the Rams from Hull City.

Derby yesterday broke their transfer record to meet Ince's buy-out clause at Hull - believed to be around £4.75m.

The former Liverpool winger rejoins the Rams after scoring 11 goals in 18 appearances during a loan spell at the end of last season.

"I came in for such a short period, but this place felt like home really quickly," Ince told the club website. "It was a move that I was desperate to get done and to get it over the line is a great feeling.

"This is a special team, it's a special club and the feeling that I got from the lads, the staff and the supporters made me feel welcome and that I was part of something special."

Despite his form, Derby missed out on the playoffs by losing 3-0 at home to Reading on the last day of the season.

"The disappointment after the season when it came to an end was like I had been a Derby player for years," Ince said.

"I felt that sadness, that frustration, but fortunately I have been given another chance to come back and to be here now as a Derby County player is a great feeling."

Hull boss Steve Bruce was reportedly disappointed that Ince was let go by the Tigers.
