Burnley turned in an impressive away performance this afternoon to seal a comfortable 3-0 victory over Derby County, with goals from Danny Ings, Sam Vokes and Jason Shackell.
Derby started the first half impressively and enjoyed a healthy spell of possession in the opening five minutes.
However, it was Burnley who nearly took the lead from a free kick, with Ben Mee heading wide from 12 yards out.
It didn't take long for the visitors to create another chance and this time it was taken as Ings started an elaborate run from midfield, which went through the Derby defence, presenting him with the chance to fire low down past goalkeeper Lee Grant.
Burnley went 2-0 ahead following poor Derby defending which saw them unable to deal with a cross into the box, leaving Vokes with the chance to turn the ball past Grant in the Derby goal.
County almost grabbed one back on the stroke of half time, with Johnny Russell doing well to find room in the box, but his snap-shot flashed wide.
Following the interval Derby picked up where they had ended the first half and a great chance almost saw them grab a goal back when Russell latched onto a poor back-header, but he was only able to find the side-netting.
County were then awarded a penalty and had the chance to claw their way back into the game, but Russell stepped up to take it left-footed, only to see a fine save from Tom Heaton down to the Burnley keeper's left.
They were soon made to pay yet again when former Derby player Shackell volleyed home at the far post to put Burnley 3-0 ahead, sealing an emphatic victory for Sean Dyche's side.
