Dover Athletic are into round two of the FA Cup after beating League Two Morecambe.

Dover Athletic created one of the shocks of the FA Cup first round after beating Morecambe in League Two.

Stefan Payne's strike from the edge of the box gave the Conference Premier side the lead to the delight on the majority inside the Crabble Ground and the Whites were able to hold off a late onslaught from the Lancashire club to go into the draw for round two.

Non-league Hemel Hempstead Town were within minutes of earning a replay, but were beaten by Bury at Gigg Lane.

The Shakers, who had won their last eight home games, fell behind to an early James Potton strike before Andrew Tutte levelled for the hosts. However, the League Two high-flyers snatched victory with two goals in the last two minutes from Nathan Cameron and Daniel Nardiello.

Conference side Southport will also be in the second round draw after earning a goalless draw away to Dagenham & Redbridge to take the Football League outfit back to Haig Avenue.

However, Grimsby Town were unable to engineer a first-round shock as they were beaten comfortably by League Two Oxford United, with a first-half brace from 18-year-old James Roberts putting the U's on course for a 3-1 win at Blundell Park.

Swindon Town, who are chasing promotion to the Championship, are out of the Cup after a humiliating 5-0 defeat at Cheltenham Town. Byron Harrison scored a hat-trick to ensure that the Gloucestershire club progress.

Fellow League One high-flyers Peterborough United were heading for a replay against Carlisle United. However, Christian Burgess's stoppage-time strike was enough for Posh to see off the Cumbrian outfit and end a miserable recent run of games without a win.

Conference North team AFC Flyde's cup campaign has ended after a 2-0 defeat at Plymouth Argyle, with Peter Hartley anad Marvin Morgan scoring for the Devon side.

Chester are into the second round after Craig Mahon's second-half goal sealed a shock victory at Southend United. They are joined in the next round by Cambridge United, who beat Fleetwood Town thanks to a late Kwesi Appiah effort at the Abbey Stadium.

Weston-super-Mare must wait for their chance to take on Doncaster Rovers after their tie was called off 21 minutes before kickoff due to a waterlogged pitch. Concord Rangers' game at Mansfield Town was also a victim of the weather.
