Scottish Premier League side Dundee United have turned down an offer from Catania for Johnny Russell.
The bid, believed to be in the region of £515,000, is the second offer that the Serie A outfit have had rejected by United's board for the striker in the space of three weeks.
It is not known whether the Italians now intend to return with a third financial package for the Terrors.
However, should they make another bid, they will face contention for the 23-year-old's signature from Celtic, according to BBC Sport.
Russell, who is currently on the sidelines with a broken leg, has scored 20 goals this season.
