A last-minute strike from Michael Gardine denied 10-man Dundee their first win over Dundee United since 1994 this afternoon.
Dundee lost defender Gary Irvine to a straight red card on 21 minutes, as the 28-year-old was given his marching orders after committing a nasty-looking tackle on Richie Ryan.
Despite their numerical disadvantage, the Dark Blues took the lead on 67 minutes, when Ryan Conroy showed neat control inside the penalty area before firing into the top corner from 12 yards.
On his Dundee debut, Steve Simonsen made a number of fine saves to keep his side ahead, but the former Everton goalkeeper was eventually beaten in the final minute of normal time.
Jon Daly headed the ball square to Gardine, who slotted home from close range.
Dundee stay bottom of the Scottish Premier League table, 13 points from safety, while United are now level on points with sixth-placed Hibs.
