Conference South side Ebbsfleet United shocked Charlton Athletic with a 1-0 win in their pre-season fixture at the PHB Stadium this evening.
There was little goalmouth action of note until Jack Munns and Chris Solly combined to tee up Jordan Cousins just before the break, but the young midfielder's effort was well saved by Brandon Hall in the Ebbsfleet United goal.
The second half was following the pattern of the first, until a controversial penalty was awarded to the home side on 74 minutes for a foul on Daryl McMahon, which was calmly converted by Matthew Godden.
Charlton threw on striker Joshua Umeras as they chased an equaliser, but Ebbsfleet United held on to secure an encouraging win.
