Ghana striker Richmond Boakye's debut goal deep into stoppage time has helped Elche earn a dramatic late point at Almeria tonight.
Both sides went into the match still searching for their first win in La Liga this season, but it was Almeria who opened the scoring on 11 minutes as Fernando Soriano headed home Rafita's cross.
The visitors were handed a lifeline on 33 minutes after Sebastian Dubarbier handled in the penalty area, with Edu Albacar stepping up confidently to equalise from the spot.
Almeria responded positively to that setback and reclaimed the lead just before the break through a penalty of their own, with Elche defender Cristian Sapunaru this time found guilty of handball.
Verza slammed home the following penalty, but after the break Almeria were reduced to 10 men when Dubarbier picked up a second yellow card.
Elche pressed for an equaliser with a man advantage and five minutes into stoppage time got their reward, with Juventus loanee Boakye finding the corner to earn his side a battling point.
