England Under-17s will attempt to seal a top-two spot in Group D when they face Spain Under-17s in Monday's European Under-17 Championship.

Despite losing their first two matches, Spain still have a mathematical chance of progressing to the knockout rounds.

Match preview

England began their campaign with a statement 4-0 win over France thanks to a Mikey Moore brace and goals from Baylee Dipepa and Ethan Nwaneri.

Moore scored another goal in Friday's clash with Portugal, netting in the 43rd minute to cancel out Rodrigo Mora's opener.

However, England were ultimately left empty-handed after they shipped three goals in a 20-minute period to fall to a heavy 4-1 defeat.

That result leaves the Three Lions three points adrift of group leaders Portugal, while they are sitting just above France due to their head-to-head record.

England know that a win will see them progress to the quarter-finals for the second year in a row, while a draw will be enough as long as France fail to beat Portugal.

Spain have reached the knockout rounds in each of their previous seven appearances at the European Under-17 Championship.

However, their hopes of continuing that impressive run are now hanging by a thread following back-to-back defeats against Portugal and France.

They gave up a narrow lead to lose 2-1 in their tournament opener against Portugal, before they were undone by a France goal on matchday two.

Friday's meeting appeared to be heading towards a goalless draw until Enzo Molebe scored an 86th-minute winner to condemn Spain to a narrow 1-0 loss in Larnaca.

Although their fate is out of their hands, Spain know that they have to beat England to have any hope of avoiding their first group-stage exit since 2009.

Team News

England boss Greg Lincoln is expected to keep faith with a back three of Leo Shahar, Kian Noble and Samuel Amissah.

Tottenham Hotspur's Moore will be looking to continue his fine form after scoring three goals across England's first two matches.

Dipepa dropped out of the side on matchday two, but the Port Vale forward could be recalled for the final group game.

Meanwhile, Spain are unable to call upon Barcelona youngster Marc Bernal, who will serve a one-match suspension after picking up two yellow cards in the tournament.

With Bernal unavailable, Hernan Perez could bring Guille Fernandez into the side to feature in a midfield alongside Juan Hernandez and Quim Junyent.

The Spain boss could make a couple more changes, with Joan Martinez and Adrian Anuncio both pushing for starting places.

England Under-17s possible starting lineup:
Brits; Shahar, Noble, Amissah; Moore, Mukasa, Harrison, Rigg, McFarlane; Dipepa, Nwaneri

Spain Under-17s possible starting lineup:
M Gonzalez; Aboubacar, Farre, Cuenca, Aguado; Hernandez, Junyent, Fernandez; Otorbi, Yanez

We say: England Under-17s 2-1 Spain Under-17s

England would have been disappointed with Friday's heavy defeat to Portugal, but they are still in a good position ahead of the final round of group matches, and we believe that they will do enough to claim a narrow victory to seal their place in the quarter-finals.
