Martin Keown has expressed his belief that Jack Wilshere has to be the focal point of the England midfielder in the future.
The Arsenal man was deployed in the sitting role in front of the Three Lions back four for their 1-0 win over Estonia, and Keown has insisted that it must become a permanent position for the 22-year-old.
He told the Daily Mail: "There was a lot of rotation in the midfield diamond, but Jack Wilshere needs to become the main man in the holding role.
"It used to be a defensive position but players like Andrea Pirlo have made it so technical. Jack is our most technically gifted player so it makes sense for him to play there."
England have won all three of their qualifying games in Group E for Euro 2016 so far under Roy Hodgson.
