Wayne Rooney has described England's display against Switzerland in their Euro 2016 qualifier this evening as a "happy performance".
Danny Welbeck scored twice in the second half as Roy Hodgson's side beat the Swiss 2-0 in their opening match of the campaign.
The captain told ITV Sport: "We defended well as a team and took our chances, catching them on the break with the speed we had been hoping to show.
"I think we knew the game against Norway on Wednesday was going to be difficult, but tonight was always going to be more important and we were focusing on that. We have worked on springing from defence to attack which you saw tonight. It was a happy performance from us."
Switzerland are the highest-ranked side in England's group according to FIFA's latest standings.
