England manager Roy Hodgson has praised the performances of his stand-in players who were called into action against Ukraine after a string of senior withdrawals.
Despite England only managing a 1-1 draw at Wembley, Hodgson felt that his young players did enough to prove that the Three Lions have depth in the squad.
"We did miss a lot of players, but the ones that came in, including the three youngsters who came on, acquitted themselves well," Hodgson said.
"It shows we aren't totally reliant on the old guard. [Danny] Welbeck had a good impact and [Ryan] Bertrand was excellent as well."
England next face San Marino and Poland on October 12 and 16 respectively.
