Roy Hodgson: 'We can have no excuses against Scotland'

England boss Roy Hodgson is adamant that his side can not have any excuses for not performing in their friendly clash against Scotland at Celtic Park on Tuesday.

England boss Roy Hodgson has insisted that there can be no excuses for his side if they don't beat Scotland in their clash at Celtic Park.

The Three Lions have won their last five matches since exiting the World Cup at the group stage in Brazil, and Hodgson is determined for his side to continue their momentum in the clash against Gordon Strachan's men.

He told reporters: "I'm not looking for excuses if we don't win. I don't think we've ever looked for excuses. The friendlies we've had have been against strong opposition: Italy, Sweden, Germany, Scotland twice, Ireland.

"We've chosen teams who can beat us. When they have beaten us, we've put our hands up and accepted that. But the World Cup was a real cold shower for us, a real bad moment.

"Before the tournament I thought we were doing quite a lot of things we were hoping for but then we lost two matches and we hit a wall. I don't think we've started again but we did have a massive barrier to get over after the World Cup, a barrier we created by losing two matches."

Hodgson's side face Scotland in their friendly match later today.
