England international striker Jermain Defoe has said that he was delighted to score on his 50th appearance for his country against Moldova on Friday.
Defoe scored the Three Lions' third goal in their 5-0 win at Stadionul Zimbru in Chisinau in their opening game of the 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign.
"It's obviously nice to get a start and a 50th cap," he told Sky Sports News. "It's a great night for me.
"It was a good win at the end. It was important to win the game and be patient.
"The early goal helped and to get a goal as well was fantastic."
England's next game in Group H is against Ukraine at London's Wembley Stadium on Tuesday.
