England captain Steven Gerrard has conceded that the Three Lions never "deserved" to win their World Cup qualifier against Montenegro, but is confident that they can top Group H.
Roy Hodgson's men are two points adrift of the leaders following their 1-1 draw.
Wayne Rooney opened the scoring for the visiting nation, while half-time substitute Dejan Damjanovic managed to find the back of the net with 13 minutes left to play.
"We stopped playing after the break for 20 or 30 minutes and away from home you can't afford to do that," Gerrard told ITV Sport. "We stopped passing and they got a deserved equaliser.
"I think there was lot of experience out there, and we showed that in first half but the problem is when you are only 1-0 up you are always vulnerable. They took control in the second half apart from the last 10 minutes but we are still confident we can finish top of the group."
England's next qualifier is against Moldova in September.
